PillPack acquisition

In 2018, Amazon acquired the online pharmacy Pillpack. PillPack was a young, successful, and design-centered company in Boston. This acquisition was the genesis of Amazon Pharmacy.

Amazon Pharmacy product launch team

The product team that launched Amazon Pharmacy was a mix of PillPack employees, Amazon veterans, and new hires. I was one of the new hires, joining the UX team as one of three designers responsible for the front-end customer experience.

Enabling customers to purchase medications for their family members

On launch, customers aged 18+ could purchase medications for themselves. According to the National Center of Health Statistics, 18% of children aged 0-11 take prescription medication, and that percentage increases with age. Amazon Pharmacy needed to enable customers to purchase medications for their children and minor dependents, both to serve this large population and to gain parity with other online pharmacies.
